Community Service

Shoes for School

Our Chapter participates in service projects for the Knoxville Area Urban League’s Shoes for School event held every August.

Oratorical Competition

The Knoxville Chapter partners with the City of Knoxville to sponsor a city-wide oratorical contest as part of the Martin Luther King Jr. Commission’s MLK Youth Symposium that is held annually during the MLK Holiday weekend in January.

Loose Change for Education

Through change collected by our Chapter throughout the year, our children learn that a little bit of money saved adds up; and that giving to others that are less fortunate is rewarding.

Kwanzaa and Christmas Outreach Event

The Knoxville Chapter partners with the YWCA Phyllis Wheatley Center to sponsor a holiday celebration for children and their families. The event focuses on sharing knowledge of African-American heritage while celebrating civic involvement in our community.

Donations to Worthy Families

The power and potential of community service is exhibited by the children and teens who volunteer many hours in support of underprivileged individuals in Knoxville.  Several local charities benefit from donations of hair supplies, toiletries, and other items collected by the Knoxville Chapter.
